This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) sets forth the terms under which you share your information with Independent Community Living and how Independent Community Living collects and uses your information. This Privacy Policy applies when you make a donation, submit an application for employment or otherwise provide us with information via the Independent Community Living website located at independentcommunityliving.org or any other domain names owned or controlled by Independent Community Living (the “Website”) or in another manner, such as via telephone, email, regular mail, social media, texting, mobile applications, at a special event, in response to a solicitation or face-to-face.

What Independent Community Living does with personal contact information collected

Independent Community Living may request from you, or you may volunteer to provide, your contact information, including your name, mailing address, phone number(s), social media handles and email address(es). Independent Community Living may, by way of example, use your contact information to:

Your personally identifiable information is kept secure. Only authorized employees, agents and contractors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. All emails and newsletters from this site allow you to opt out of further mailings.

Credit card and billing information

In addition to your contact information, when you make a donation or purchase, Independent Community Living asks for your billing address and credit card or other financial services information.  Independent Community Living uses a third-party banking agent to process your payments via a secured server that encrypts your credit card/bank information. Independent Community Living and our banking agent will not share your credit card/bank information with any other third party, nor will we retain your credit card/bank information longer than necessary.

Cookies

When you visit the Website, Independent Community Living may store some information on your computer or device as a “cookie” or similar file (i.e., a small piece of datum that stores information on your browser in your hard drive). Independent Community Living may use cookies to gather broad demographic and traffic information, to help improve the design and functionality of the Website. Cookies may also be used for “retargeting” in advertising campaigns so that third-party vendors can display advertising to you about Independent Community Living or other related entities as you use the internet.

You may engage with Independent Community Living through third-party social-media sites, plug-ins and applications, such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. When doing so, you may allow Independent Community Living to access certain information from your profile (e.g., name, email address, photo, gender, birthday, location, list of friends/contacts, whom you follow and or who follow you, your “likes,” etc.). When you provide information to Independent Community Living through an application, on the Website, or on social networking platforms, it may be viewable by other users of these sites and, in such instances, Independent Community Living is not responsible for, and cannot prevent, use of the information by third parties. It is Independent Community Living’s policy not to solicit knowingly any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.   11. Applicable Law. These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, except with regard to its conflicts of law rules. Any action relating to the website or these Terms of Use must be brought in the courts located in Midland, Michigan, and you hereby irrevocably consent to the jurisdiction of such courts. Any cause of action you may have with respect to the website or these Terms of Use must be commenced within one (1) year after the claim or cause of action arises, or be barred.
  12. Entire Agreement. These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement of the parties for the website and supersedes all existing agreements and all other oral, written or other communication between the parties concerning its subject matter.
